WESTBY — Kari Kristine Matson-Fortney, 65, of Westby died Sunday, May 27, 2018.

Kari (Matson) Fortney was born July 7, 1952, to Clifford and Hildegard (Yaun) Matson in the hospital in Viroqua. Kari lived in Madison, Wis., for years and raised her family there. She was a registered nurse, at worked at both UW and Merrider Hospitals in Madison.

Kari moved to Westby, in 2016 and lived in Nordic Village. She was a wonderful Christian mother and was a very kind person who had many great friends. Blessed be our memories of Kari.

Kari is survived today by her mother, Hildegard; one daughter, Karissa (David) Campiola; three sisters, Margaret (Richard) Hansen, Margaretta Overbo and Gretchen (Andy) Brudos; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford in April of 2010; and by her son, Alexander Fortney in May of 2005.
